So I completed the Miss Texas Pageant with flying colors! I did not win, nor did I place but I did gain a new sense of empowerment and confidence. God reminds me that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, which encourages me to not feel so bad about not winning or placing. I can only imagine what he has in store for me next. Gosh, my first time doing a pageant I went all the way to the state level. That is pretty impressive. I am also the first African American Miss Southlake! I can tell my kids one day that their mom made history. One of the questions I was asked in interview is how do I deal with failure. My answer was that I try not focus on the fact that I failed, instead I focus on picking myself back up again and use my failure as motivation to try harder. Now that the pageant has ended the opportunities are endless. I was asked if I was going to compete in the Miss USA pageant and I honestly am not sure. Im still learning the different organizations and what they represent. Now it is time to focus on my patients again and resume my nursing duties. Shout out to Bludoor studios for the amazing photos they have taken of me and JC productions for the amazing video shots! Big thanks to ALL of my sponsors
I am so excited to check-in to the Miss Texas Pageant today. Words cannot describe how I am feeling. Let’s just say I’m human and female so there are a lot of emotions. Ha! It seems so surreal to be entering the Pageant and roughly 7 months ago I was crowned Miss Southlake. The Journey has been amazing. There have been ups and downs but the Lord assures me everyday that everything will work out. I have received so much support from family, friends, and even strangers that is so amazing. Words simply cannot express my gratitude. I have been thinking about how winning the Miss Texas Pageant can literally change my life over night. Im ready for a change but there are always nerves when big decisions are made. I will have to step away from my career in order to pursue this dream of being Miss America. I know that whatever happens is God’s will and I am just thankful for the opportunity. Time to check-in in a few hours! Are you ready mommy?

They learned the four different food groups they need to have on their plate and some healthy, fun exercises i.e. duck walk, jumping jacks, and lunges! It is so cool being a princess! Check out the video it is on Youtube!
I am really enjoying being Miss Southlake and looking forward to Miss Texas in June. I had an amazing time today at the Miss Texas Spring Meeting! All of the 2015 Miss Texas contestants helped load donated clothes and items to the salvation army for Miss America Serves Day. I actually met Miss America 2015, Kira Kazantsev, and she is a very cool person! I am making new friends and so many memories
